The Gold Coast is invariably the one neighborhood all tourists to "the Windy City" visit. Just north of the downtown or Loop  financial district, it has the famous "Magnificent Mile" as its main shopping street. The Mag Mile includes shiny department stores, high-end clothiers and jewelers, several vertical malls, and a very popular little popcorn store!

Lake Michigan and its Oak Street Beach are at the northeast corner of Oak Street and Michigan Avenue, stretching north along the east side of the Gold Coast and the other lakefront neighborhoods for many miles. How fantastic to have a beach-biking-jogging playground a short walk from your home!

Prices in the Gold Coast and adjoining Streeterville vary greatly from building to building. If you would like up-to-date information on developments in Streeterville, click on the link here for their neighborhood association website.  It is impossible to do a sampling of their local values in just one page. You can spend several million on a gorgeous greystone house on Astor Street or $250,000 on a modest high-rise condo.  It's best to consult a full-time real estate sales professional in Chicago to determine if this area suits your budget.
